Tolt Spin Saturday, July 5th - 9:30 AM
Ride leader: Steve Location: Tolt MacDonald
Change of plans. I went riding out to Snoqualmie Falls and things were somewhat wet. Middle Fork is in a rain trough and will probably be really wet, so the plan is to ride Tolt now.

***************************************

Bootcamp friendly and Lunachix friendly ride (I'll even ride on flats if needed). You know the drill. An out-n-bak 2 Dingford Creek for lunch. If it's warm enough maybe some swimming too!

btw: If the weather for Saturday turns to crud or there's a lack of interest I'll probably change the location to something closer like Tolt.

Hank the Horse proudly presents: The fourth annual BBTC meets FTTRC (Point 2 Point Super Fun Joy Ride)

Come on out and enjoy some remarkable trails in the REAL Eastern Washington. Meet some of our fellow riders from the greater Spokane area from FTTRC, and enjoy some unique beautiful terrain, and some rippin singletrack. Be comforted in the fact that the ride leader has never stayed lost for more than a few hours at a time.

Click here for picture of official Kettle ride mascot, Hank the Horse.

Kettle Crest North to Stickpin to South Fork Boulder Rd.

26 miles 2000' climb 3500' descent. Ride starts at Deer Creek Summit and will end at the junction of South Fork/North Fork Boulder Creek Rd. Carpool and caravan will start from Jungle Hill Campground. Highway 20 East to 395 Northbound. About 4 miles past Barstow find Boulder Creek Rd. (602). Less than 2 miles Southeast is South Fork Boulder junction (6110), where chase vehicles will be parked. Shuttle vehicles resume up another 8 miles to Deer Creek Summit.

If you think Eastern Washington after the Cascades is a bunch of dry desert and rolling fields, you are mistaken. The Kettle Crest trail system meanders thru the high elevation of beautiful rugged mountainous terrain. Sherman Pass is located between the towns of Republic and Kettle Falls. Awesome singletrack (Closed to Moto's!!!) Email me for drive directions, and camping information.

Trail will follow a stream and cross over some wet and boggy areas. Timbered trails with beautiful vistas toward the top. The descent down Stickpin Trail is a roller coaster ride, and then we settle into a nice long easy descent down South Fork Boulder Rd. which is closed to traffic.

LUNA Chix - Who Says Worms are Slow???? Tuesday, July 8th - 6:00 PM
Ride leader: Susan Location: Tapeworm - Towers of Power
So, everyone says Worms are Slow, we're going to show the Worm a little speed this time. We'll be doing this one at a moderate pace. We'll stop rarely. We won't be doing this one so much to work on technical skills as to do it with some pace so you need the technical abilities to ride the worm without stopping much. We may do a double worm or perhaps worm/parasite depending on how the group feels.

Following the ride there will be an optional trail run, we'll do about 20 minutes out/back.

LUNA Chix Beginner/Intermediate Mountain Bike Skills Clinic Thursday, July 10th - 6:00 PM
    Organizer: Susan Location: I-5 Colonnade
**UPDATE** We are very excited that former pro-downhiller, Kat Sweet will be assisting at the clinic in teaching the more advanced skills like drops and jumps!!! LUNA Chix Beginner/Intermediate Mountain Bike Skills Clinic - Thursday, July 10 6-9pm, Seattle

Join us for a beginner-intermediate skills clinic just for women at the I-5 Colonnades mountain bike park. We’ll assess the group and split it into at least 2 groups to ensure that all participants get the most they can out of the event. We’ll cover skills to make your rides more enjoyable and make you more comfortable on the bike, for those more advanced, we’ll work on skinnies, drops, switchbacks, etc. The environment is all women and very relaxed. We’ll break down the skills, demo them, then let you practice them while providing supportive input to help you get comfortable with them. There is no pressure and lots of encouragement. If you have wanted to learn how to make your ride more smooth, relaxed, and enjoyable, to get over those roots, rocks and logs on the trail or just taking it to the next level, come on out.

LUNA Bar sponsors our team to get more women involved in mountain biking. There are more than 25 teams across the US so LUNA is really putting their money where their mouth is relative to providing us more opportunities to learn and ride. In addition to our mission of providing riding and clinic opportunities for women, we raise money for the Breast Cancer Fund, a 501 (c )(3) that identifies and advocates for the removal of the environmental causes of Breast Cancer, www.breastcancerfund.org. For more info on Team LUNA Chix, go to www.lunabar.com.

Cost of the clinic is a $20 donation to the Breast Cancer Fund and 2 hours of trail work through BBTC. We will provide a few ‘women-only’ opportunities for trail work as the clinic date approaches. 2 Hours MUST be completed prior to the clinic. Email to sign up prior to the event, info@seattlelunachix.com to receive a waiver form and instructions on where to send the fee. Note the ride limit is not set but the first 20 participants to sign up, return the waiver, and pay their fees will be accepted into the clinic. Hope to see you out there!

Sawyer Gut Buster Thursday, July 10th - 6:00 PM
Ride leader: Eric Location: Lake Sawyer
The SGB is now going to alternate between Tiger and Sawyer for the summer. The ride also continues to fluctuate as far as day of the week....we'll try for Thursdays, but be sure to check weekly because the ride will occasionally pop up on a Tuesday.

Woodinville had the weekly Thrilla....Tolt had the weekly Tuesdays @ Tolt, Seatac had Mondays @ Seatac (every winter) and now there is a weekly Gut Buster...My co-leaders are Dennis L and Derek C and we have each committed to this ride on a weekly basis. One of us, if not all three of us, will show up to lead this ride each week.

When we visit Sawyer we ride a variety of the trails in Sawyer and rely more on a timed ride than we do on a specific route. We ride for approximately 2 hours and try for between 9 and 11 miles. So if you live in the south end and have always envied those riding the Thrilla and Tuesday's at Tolt, then this is the ride for you.

We'll meet at the new Bike Shop location in Black Diamond Square - 1/4 mile north of the old shop location. Parking is available behind the bike shop.

Feel free to E-mail me with questions and I hope to see some of you on SGB evenings!!

The Mystery Ride Thursday, July 10th - 6:00 PM
    Ride leader: Ross

I'd like to ride at Grand Ridge, Tiger, Mt Tenerife, John Wayne/Iron Horse Trail, or Tapeworm - doesn't really matter to me which one, so first person to sign-up and email gets to pick the location. Lights will be needed for most of these rides.

    Here's a summary of each:

    • Tiger: Ride up Iverson, NWT, Preston, then down Preston, NWT (and maybe Iverson) Never mind, NWT is closed until Aug
    • Grand Ridge: Start at the Community Center, ride up the high school hill and under I-90 at High Point Way, then up/down Grand Ridge to the WTA end, then reverse. 20 miles of climbing goodness.
    • John Wayne/Iron Horse Trail: Start at Rattlesnake Lake, and ride as high as we can until we hit snow or a closed railway tunnel.... then come back down.
    • Mt Tenerife: Brutal (?) dirt road climb, up then down.
    • Tapeworm: Two laps of DNA1/2, Tapeworm, and Parasite, reverse on second lap where applicable.

Postride dinner/brew at the Rogue or Snoqualmie Tap Room when convenient.

    Let's tackle Tokul ladies!

This is an intermediate ride with a steady pace. We'll hit all of the major trails and will be climbing the road at least 3 times, maybe more, so a good level of fitness is required. For those who haven't ridden here before there will be some technical, steep, downhill sections so you must be comfortable technically. We'll regroup at the major intersections but overall will keep the pace steady. This ride is not appropriate for beginners or tweeners. Kachess: The Commutist Manifesto Sunday, July 20th - 7:00 AM
Ride leader: Doug Location: Iron Horse at Cedar Falls
Attention brothers and sisters of the knobby tire: You say you want to ride Kachess Ridge, but don't want to drive all the way to Easton? You say gas prices are too high to warrant that much driving for a 3-hour bike ride? You say you want to challenge yourself with an all-day epic and do something new for a change?

Aye, I can feel your cries from across the interweb. And I've got your solution. We don't need those price-gouging oily infidels to fuel our passions! We shall eschew the shackles of our metal coffins and we will ride! We shall not shuttle Kachess Ridge. We shall not caravan to Kachess Ridge. No, my brothers and sisters, we shall take up saddles at Rattlesnake Lake and we shall ride to Kachess Ridge. We shall ride, and ride, and ride some more. And after 40 miles of riding, we will come to the ridge they call Kachess and we shall climb it! Climb it like men of yore! And then we shall stare out from its peak and we shall know our struggle is but half over. Down, down, down we will descend over rock and stream, under highway, through tunnel, and then down, down, down, so many dozens of miles back to the lake of the snake.

Sawyer Gut Buster Thursday, July 24th - 6:00 PM
